Krka National Park is named after the main river that flow through the Park, Krka River.  Krka National Park is mostly unchanged, preserving the nature as when it was created.
 
The park was made a national park in 1985 and is under the jurisdiction of Sibenik-Knin County, the national park encompasses a total of 109 Square Kilometers.  
 
River Krka is approximately 72 KM long making it the 22nd longest rivers of Croatia, the river drops a total of 242 meters making it an amazing act of nature.
 

 

Krka National Park has an abundance of nature and fauna, there are some 18 species of fish, 222 species of birds and 18 species of bats.


National Park Krka has some amazing sights:

  • Skradinski Buk

  • Visovac

  • Roški Slap

  • Monastery Krka

Skradinski Buk  - This is a lovely area of the park, which includes a Mill and souvenir shop

Visovac  - Island of Visovac was first mentioned in a deed dated back to 1345, King Louis of Anjou (Ludovik Anžuvinac) left the island to Budislav Ugrinic the son of Ugrin of Bribir.

Roški Slap  - This is another lovely area of the park and is most visited, there are a number of water cascades which are impressive to see.

Monastery Krka - The orthodox monastery dated back to the 15th century, it was built in the Byzantine style. The monastery is located on the Island of Visovac, the Island is situated in the middle of lake Visovac.

National Park Krka is situated 30 minutes from Sibenik, a lovely day trip even from Zadar and the surrounding towns.
